Friday April 26th, we were too close for comfort as a line of strong storms came through. There were several tornadoes , one being just a couple miles from us.
It ended up being pretty destructive, tornadoes reaching 60 miles further toward Omaha. I heard this morning that one person has died from injuries.
Luckily we are well versed in safety precautions. It’s always amazing that there isn’t more loss of life after seeing the destruction.
Iowa, Oklahoma and Texas were impacted over the weekend also.
    Eyes to the skies!!

So good to hear that you and yours are safe. —Really good news.
Tornados can be scary, that is for sure…one must have respect.
When I lived in St. Louis, it was a bit too common. There were protocols and tunnels.
It is a good thing to be well versed.
…did I mention that I am glad you guys are oké?

Isn’t it strange that people come from around the world to see tornadoes thru tour groups hoping to see one live.
Tornadoes appear 99% of the time in the US. Mostly because there's a wider window for the right conditions that cause them , like humid air coming up from the south to displace colder systems.

Most tornadoes are found in the Great Plains of the central United States – an ideal environment for the formation of severe thunderstorms. The area is known as Tornado Alley, storms are caused when dry cold air moving south from Canada meets warm moist air traveling north from the Gulf of Mexico.

Weather - climate change has increase the impact of these storms that cause extreme occurrences and more powerful tornadoes.
