My moms job is having a thanksgiving potluck & I need idea's what to make for her to bring. I don't want to bring the same ol' same ol'....What I mean is I don't want to bring Thanksgiving stuffing, or cranberry sauce because everyone else will be doing that, so...

What do you or your family have on Thanksgiving that is yummy, but unusual, & not extremely hard to make?

Thank you
Stephanie

Here ya go, my latest favorite: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Orange-Glazed-Carrots/Detail.aspx
It's what I'm making this year, along with pumpkin bread (noone but me likes pie!) and a salad with everything I can get my hands on in it.

This is like the one I make alot. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Chocolate-Eclair-Torte/Detail.aspx
It is yummy and has nothing to do with turkey or cranberries.

Our families are pretty much very traditional when it comes to what foods are a must for Thanksgiving and they don't usually leave much room for 'experiments'. They want the usual Wink

But I am going to slip in a dish of those Orange Glazed Carrots this year. I think we have a couple of carrot eaters who will enjoy them.

I like that website for the comments part; be sure to glance over them for how to make the sauce a little thicker and such. Smile

How about one of these casseroles... corn casserole, green bean, brocoli, rice and cheese, ~ candied yams, asparagus, and the glazed carrots sound yummy. Instead of the regular cranberry sauce, you could make a dish of whole cranberries (I don't have a recipe for this, but 'google' it). I am like Toni, my dinners are the usual, like the things I've mentioned above. Hope this helps. Wink

Our Thanksgiving is very traditional also, but I am going to try something new for this potluck, we signed up for 2 dishes & some rolls, I am going to make sweet yeast rolls & Honey butter, the glazed carrots & I am not sure what else...

Im gonna down size the recipe for that chocolate torte & make it for my honey & I when he is on his next "furlough" (I refer to his job as "the prison" cause he is on a offshore oil rig 3 months at a time.)

I was thinking corn casserole actually, then I thought corn fritters...I have a week to decide.

I make this for Thanksgiving, but I use one cup white sugar and one cup brown sugar. It is so delicious.

Sharon, that sounds absolutely delicious. Think I might try that either for Thanksgiving or Christmas. Thanks for sharing.
