About 8 months ago I decided that I did not want to go out on winter days to see my flowering plants. So, I decided to plant about 20 seeds. 10 of hot pink vincas which need to be planted deep because they germinate in the dark and 10 of red begonia planted with just some loose dirt scattered, because they need light to germinate. These plants are full sun plants. I planted them in one of those small starter greenhouses. Only 2 of the Vinca and 5 of the Begonias grew. After the seedly were tall I placed them under an 2 artifical grow lights that face a bright North facing window. Whenever possible, I would leave the artificial lights on under supervision for about 12 hours a day. The other day I noticed that they finally flowered. First the Begonia flowered then the Vinca flowered. Enjoy!
Don't be limited by your choices. Try new ways to enjoy gardening. Good luck in your endeavors.

Great experiment, Avan....
I love experimenting with different ways to grow things. We are doing self-watering boxes right now. Thanks for the photos, I may get mine out.
