Hi SamMein,

This is an open question. So much depend on what you want to plant.

For example, corn grows tall and blocks the morning and early afternoon sun, You don't want that with some crops.

Plant corn on the north or west side of your garden.

vining crops like squash and pumpkins can be planted near corn, the semi shade does them some good as they grow amongst the corn. Some people plant pole beans with corn, using the corn stalks as poles.

Depending on the size of your garden, you may want to grow up instead of out.

Stake tomatoes, use a fence for cukes to grow up, Plant pole beans. You can do this with muskmelon too if you support the fruited with pantyhose or something else.

Plant radishes with carrots. Radishes mark the row and are well done before carrots really get started.

The more sun the better for garden crops so be sure to plant tall to the north if possible.

Keep insecticides from your garden, bees, hoverflies, butterflies and other pollinators are needed and insecticdes don't discriminate.

Hope this helps.
