I like the rustic charm of the pictures you showed. I'd love the high ceilings and open feeling. These rooms are certainly decorated to perfection.

Thank you. I am attracted to the two rooms for the same reason. I am just having trouble deciding if I like the rooms because they are decorated so beautifully or if it's the timber aspect that I really love.

We have a VERY funky family cabin that was built in the early 70's. They used beams, and board ceilings and drywall/particle wall construction. I am sure it was someone else's family summer project. The beams and wood are what made it so attractive to us despite the aweful 80s wallpaper, 70s green/gold carpeting and mismatched cabintry. With a lot of paint and my limited construction abilities it has become a week-end retreat year round.
If you can, you should visit some model homes that have used that construction. It is certainly beautiful, but being in it will let you know how it "feels" to you.

I love the rustic timber. I have always dreamed of having a small home like this. If funds weren't an issue, I would go for it in a heartbeat. But I will just continue to admire them from afar.

Thank you Jewell for the post. Knowing that a house can show potential despite horrible 70's decorating really is encouraging to go for the timber frame home.
Gaylyn, I love the rustic timber too. In the future, I am hoping to find a deal if I do decide to go for the timber frame home. Because you are right, they can be quite pricey.
