|
Hello,
Does anyone have some good tips on Lavender propagation from cuttings for me? I have tried and tried to get cuttings to root - but so far they just die and never produce root-one.
I have tried rooting powders, I have tried planting them in compost mixed with sand, I have tried them in water....I'm at wit's end.
What's the secret? How do I get them to root?!
Cheers...Clint

I've not had much success either Sjoerd with lavender. I even bought plugs plants from a mail order firm and already 2 have died (I ordered six) and another 2 don't look very healthy at all. I think it's much easier to grow them directly from seed.
Maybe someone else can give you some better advice though.

I am sooooo glad Im not the only one with no luck with this!!! Last year I bought a baby and planted it. It lasted a week. This year I started them from seed. Oh they sprouted! But never made it to its first true leaves.
I give up!

Well, what do you think is the trouble, Pinki? That is really frustrating. Have you tried digging a wide and depish hole in the spot that you want to plant your Lavender ...then filling that with compost mixed with sand and a sprinkling of calcium--then planting your Lavender in that?
That might just work for you... c'mon...third time's a charm.
Jubabe, I won't give up just yet. My wife says that I wrote the book on stubornness. heh heh heh. I'm saying nothing.
There is a flat-topped Moroccan chest in front of the window in the bedroom and I have filled the top of it with cuttings now...I added another six this evening.
Mr fingers are beginning to cramp, but before I go to bed this evening, I'll cross my toes as well.
p.s. your roses look supurb!
