I was born in Yorkshire but when I was a year old I got Polio so my parents moved to the Kent coast (they hoped the sea air would do me good) They used to bring me back to yorkshire every year to see family and I always said that I would like to live here (its very friendly), so when I was 22 I packed up and moved here. The house I live in now is across the road from the house I was born in! lol

Born in North Carolina, grew up in South Carolina, moved to Michigan so I could experience big city life, married, had children, grandchildren and stayed. I love both the south and the north. Michigan has the best tomatoes ever!

My husband was offered a job here in Texas. We moved from upstate New York, the snow capital of the states, to central Texas 14 years ago. After 10 years of town life we moved to this small farm and love it!
No, I don't miss the snow. I didn't think it was "pretty". I haven't had frostbite since we got here!

I was born here, raised here, married and stayed here. My 5 remaining siblings, mom and dad, m and f inlaw (live right next door)are all within a 45 minute drive. I guess I'll be here for the duration.

I was born in Omaha & lived in SW Iowa most my life. Went to college in KS, and lived in NE before moving back to Iowa. Now I own the house I grew up in, my parents sold it to me because it had gotten run-down. They knew I would fix it up.

I was born less than 10 miles from where I now live. I grew up in a different town about the same distance. I spent summers working the family farm in Kentucky.

Graduated High School and joined Uncle Sam's Yacht Club. Whilst home on leave, I fell madly, deeply, and achingly in lurve with the woman I married.

We raised two boys, who now live 150 and 2400 miles away, and have four grandchildren.

I think I might only relocate to Portland, Oregon where number two son lives. I just love the area. Not that I'm a tree and bunny hugger mind you.

Bit of a long story, but here it goes:
Although my name suggests otherwise (English first and surname), I was born and raised here in The Netherlands. My father was English, from London, and my mum is Dutch. They met when my father served in the Army and was stationed in Geilenkirchen.

Before my sister was born (when I was 4), my dad often took me to my Gran in London, where I then stayed for a few weeks until he came to pick me up again. I loved it there, especially Gran's large garden. I would play out there for hours. I think this how I caught the 'gardening bug'.

After I graduated from what you call high school, I decided to go and work in the UK for a year or so. Well, one year became 13 years! Unfortunately I then had to choose between a reasonable job but no decent place to stay, or the other way round. London property was just too expensive! Flatsharing is far from ideal.....

I gave up my job and moved back to the Netherlands, where I now have a lovely small council house.
Unfortunately I'm no longer able to work due to ill health, but as long as I can potter about a bit in my garden I'm content.

If I had a choice, though, I would pick up my little house and move it to the UK, somewhere in the countryside.

Born in New York City, raised in Co. Cork Ireland, came back to the US and New York City when I was 17 and got the heck out of there after 9/11. I always would come up to PA to visit friends on weekends and it reminded me so much of Ireland that I decided to move up here for good after 9/11.

I live in a small area about 12 miles from where I was raised , we own a bike shop in our little town. I haven't lived here all my life, but it seems like it, went to high school here, and know allot of the people . I work in a grocery store and everyone knows me, been there going on 21 years. I also work with old classmate which is fun.

I spent the first 19 years of my life in a house about 8 blocks from the hospital where I was born. Went to work in the San Juan islands and met my husband (of 25 years last July!) Got married and lived a couple of places around Olympia before plopping down on 5 acres of prairie land next to the Black Hills. Spent about 20 years there, raising our kids, but the restrictions on doing anything with our land became a bit burdensome, so we moved into town last fall. Right into a neighborhood that feels very much like the one I grew up in, a half hour south of here! My husband is a bit more exotic, lived in China part of his growing up, all around the bay area the rest of the time. Before moving up here and meeting me in the islands Smile
