Our little community has just turned 5 years old It's been a wild ride so far, and it looks set to grow and grow. A bit of history:
Jan 2005 - GardenStew is born
2006 - Blogs, member map, calendar are added
2007 - New logo
2008 - GardenStew Plants feature is added
2009 - Gardens and photo upload features are added
2010 - ???
It would be really cool to share any GardenStew-related stories you have. Did you meet in-person with anyone from the site? Did info from here help you with something significant in your offline life?
Personally GardenStew has changed my life in that I have to make life decisions around it, what with it being a big part of my working life. I can't believe it has been 5 years already! But a sweet 5 years they have been.
Happy Birthday GardenStew!
P.S you may be able to view old versions of the site here: http://bit.ly/7Ea0iZ

This is my favoritest online place to be, first thing I do in the morning is log-on.
Still amazes me how, in all corners of the globe, we are all pretty much growing the same flowers and fighting the same pests.
I have learned so much about plants from the most wonderful people from all over the world.
And I have never taken so many pictures in my life as I have since I joined a little over 4 years ago...not even of my daughters or grandkids
I just looked back at some of the GS looks, it has changed so much and each change has been for the better.
Thank you so very much Frank and Happy Birthday GardenStew

Oh gosh! I'm sorry I did not see this post when I began my thread. If you want to move it over to this one, Frank feel free.
You do a great job and have a great site here.
Well done.

Since joining in September 2007 I have 'met' so many wonderful people.
Although I am not able to garden any longer, I still enjoy talking with everyone and adding my 2 cents worth!
I found GS when I 'googled' garden junk! And in the process I found this amazing site with the most terrific folks from all over the world.
I also come to my computer the first thing in the morning, to see what is new!
Thank you Frank for your wonderful creation... GardenStew. And thanks to Toni and Eileen for their support and help.
And thanks to everyone that makes my days brighter by sharing their beautiful photos.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARDENSTEW !!!!

WOW! Congratulations on your fifth birthday! Love the site and the differences it has made in my joy of gardening and getting to share a favorite hobby with others from all over the world.
GardenStew was also the seed that made me start a garden journal and plant list for my own records and joy.
Discussing gardening on GardenStew has also helped me to be more open about my gardening with others. This has helped me to discover that there are more of us "closet" gardeners that don't want to "bore" anyone with our gardening stories at work and among friends.
It would be fun to have some regional get-to-gethers for Stewies. This is definitely the best place on the net to be.

Gosh it's hard to believe that GardenStew is 5 years old already!! Doesn't time fly when you're having fun?
I don't think I would know what to do with myself if I din't have you all to chat to on a daily basis. Who would have guessed that by joining these forums five years ago that I would be in touch with people from all over the world and consider them all my personal friends.
Here's to the next five years .... and many more!!
Happy Birthday GardenStew.

Happy Birthday to us here on Gardenstew!! I joined in 2005. There have been so many changes in those years. I met Julie and then Glenda and Heather on here. In May 2009 we came for a visit and in December 2009 we moved here. It was a big change from Arizona and we're still getting used to being in Texas. Through it all Gardenstew was here and encouraging. I have family here and friends here and friends around the world now. I come here several times a day to check on everyone and miss them when they aren't here for awhile. I worry about them when they are sick and rejoice with them when they celebrate. I get advice and give advice and blog every once in awhile and talk too much.

Happy Birthday GardenStew!
I stumbled upon this site while looking around for an international gardening forum where I could root and grow, and I've never regretted joining.
I've never photographed plants more since joining, and I've actually met one of the members on here too.
I've learned so much about gardening around the world, and also about birds, wildlife, pests and people's living and working conditions. I love the Stew.
Big thank you to Frank, Toni and Eileen for making this such a special place to be. I only wish you lived closer so I could hug you all and make a huge birthday party.
