Having a little time after supper tonight we went to see some friends. They run the farmer's market where I go to sell my aprons and stuff. I needed to see Dean about a printing project he is doing for me. Rick and Dean were both there working on a water tank but were happy to stop and talk. We had some catching up on what each of us were doing. While we were talking I was looking at some plants they had in pots sitting at the edge of one of their garden plots. I walked over and looked. They were rose bushes. A lot of rose bushes. They had purchased them bare root and planted them in pots and mulched them. I ask if they had any climbers. We've been thinking of putting climbing roses of one of the fences where we are moving. They came and looked and found they had ten Blaze climbing roses. I asked, "How much?" He said well he normally would sell them for $8.95 but since he didn't like me I would have to pay $5.95. I'm glad he didn't like me. I told him I would take all ten of them but there was a catch. I didn't have any money. He said, "Well, since I don't like you any way just back up your truck and lets get them loaded. You can pay me when you have some money." Then, he told Brian he didn't want my money, he wanted to trade Brian for something which was okay with me. I didn't want to give him my money anyway. I just didn't go prepared to buy anything so didn't have any money with me. So, we now have 10 Blaze climbing rose bushes to plant when we get a fence to plant them on. That will come and in the meantime I will keep the bushes in their pots on my sunny front porch. That's what I will miss when we move, my sunny front porch. We will build a large deck but it won't be a hundred feet long so I can grow morning glories on it.

I'm sooo glad that Dean and Rick dislike you so much Dooley. Ten Blaze roses for nothing - now that has to be the bargain of the year!! You must post piccies of them when they bloom for you.

I wish our garden nursery people disliked me as much as Dean dislikes you, Dooley. Congratulations on your Blazes.

They were bare root that he put into pots. Which is okay, since they will have to stay in the pots for awhile anyway. I'll just get some root hormone and plant food and see if I can get them growing more roots before we plant them.
I am happy with the deal, too.

You'll love the "Blazes". They are such a cheery red. I have one planted with a purple clematis which makes them both "shine".
I've kept roses in pots for a couple of years at a time when I couldn't decide where to plant them (they were cuttings I had rooted, and a nasty thorny very old rose I just can't seem to find the right place for). My roses seemed to like the pot and did just fine.
Really good buy. You know how to charm 'em for the great deals

My dad has been attempting to grow to grow a climbing rose for a while now. I went to visit him the other day and he asked me to come have a look at his garden. I saw that he had the hose on sitting at the foot of the rose. i asked him how long it had been on..he told me the hose had been running all day and all night for three days...Obviously no one ever told my Dad to never put roses to bed with wet feet! haha
