|
All day yesterday I visited a garden show called Canada Blooms. In one of the exhibits, there was an old chair covered with grass. I was intrigued so I asked the vendor how he made it. I like funky garden art so I'm thinking I might try to grow one too.
The vendor explained how to make it.
What you need is:
paper pulp
wallpaper paste
green plastic netting
grass seed
First you mix the wallpaper paste with the paper pulp and grass seed. Apply the paper and paste thickly all over the chair. Then staple on the plastic netting over the paste and paper mix to hold it in place. Put the chair in the sun and make sure the grass chair does not dry out.
Cut the grass with scissors.
Cool!
****EDIT**** I forgot...oops ...mix in the grass seed with the paper & paste.

I've never seen anything like it! What an original way to use an old chair! I could picture my kitties sitting on it, basking in the sun

What a great way to recycle an old, worn out chair. I'd love to see a whole set of garden furniture covered in grass like that.

Hi Netty
Yes I did go to Canada Blooms. I joined a bunch of of other gardeners and took a bus down. For $55. we got the bus ride, a HUGE box lunch and admission.
Unfortunatly I didn't take very many pictures but I will share the ones I took with you.
Give me a minute to download them to this site....
I will put them in a new folder called "Canada Blooms"

Hmm...for some strange reason, I can't post or re-size my pictures. I wonder why I could post the picture of the chair but I can't do any other pictures?

Oooh, that would look nice outside. I think I saw a broken chair in the stable loft the other day...

A great idea and it could be done elsewhere for decorations.
