I thought I would just dash into town this morning and pick up some anise extract and be home and have the cookies finished by noon. Wrong! I couldn't find anise extract. It took going to seven different stores and a trip to Huntsville(38 miles each way.) I finally found it at the Kroger Store. I should have started there. What's wrong with these people in Texas? Don't they make pfeffernusse cookies? Don't they know what's good to eat for Christmas? Well, to each his own, I guess.
We did stop for a sandwich down in Huntsville so it was almost two when we got back home. Then, I started some soup for supper before I finished the cookies. But they are done now and in the container to mellow. We were very good and didn't even sample them yet. dr said if he sampled one I would have to make a whole new batch of them. I have seven dozen of them. I guess I made them a bit too big because it's supposed to make 8 dozen. I may have to make another batch if I want to include them in the tins of cookies that I give to friends, neighbors and anyone who looks like they could use a cookie or two. If you live close enough, stop by for a cup of tea and a cookie. I won't guarantee what kind they will be but they will make you think of Christmas.

Sounds like you had a day, almost Black Friday on Saturday. I'm going to try your cookie recipe out if I can find the anise.

I wish I lived close enough. I'd love to sit and visit over tea and a cookie, Dooley! I'll bet that batch will taste extra super special after all you put into it!

Wouldn't you just be surprized to bits if I showed-up on your doorstep begging for cookies and milk?
That powder dusting makes me think of those tiny little donuts that one finds over there, but the taste is differnt of course.
We have things here with the powdered sugar and it brings out my messy factor when I eat them haha.
I would love to sample your version of the Pfeffernusse cookies......erm, do you have any tea in the house? I'll call the airport and see if there is a flight this morning. Smile

I wish I could stop by for a cup of tea and cookies! However, I'd better wait till Glenda and Oreo are at home. If I made it to Texas and missed her she'd be very unhappy with me Surprised
