Sorry to hear of your loss. Got deer? If it wasn't for our dogs and fences I'd have a lot less greener Confused It is so sad to see the bigger fawns tenatively walking down the street.

Kate, are there any tracks in the garden that would tell you what has been eating your plants?

Bummer, My first thought was a deer, but it could have been a ground hog, also. Their reach is farther than you would think. We had one eating our snow peas ( and they are 5' tall) this past week, my first thought was a deer, then we actually saw the groundhog run through the garden. Evil or Very Mad then I saw it flattened on the road. I guess it wasn't fast enough that morning.

I recently read where ground hogs can even climb trees, and have had mine in the tree a few times. He likes my grapevines, and my hostas. I named it Fred, but do not know its gender. If I ever find Fred's picture again [Vista is a nightmare on the photos...] I will post it. We caught him sleeping on my front porch.

AA, we were at a grad party tonight for one of kevin's cousins tonight, and her dad told us that he caught a groundhog climbing the tree on their little island in the middle of their pond and when he went after it it jumped in the water and swam for shore. Shocked

Must be about 6 weeks old - so now how do you be really really mad at a little baby like that? If it were an adult though it would have been in a pot on my stove top!!

there is a product I think called "shake away" that contains coarsely ground black pepper. shake it all around the perimeter of your garden and it is supposed to repel any animals.

While I vacationed in Williamsburg VA many years ago I picked up a recipe for rabbit pie. Your wabbit isn't fat enough. And I don't think spitting is an option. Smile
How about a Havahart trap and relocation?

He or she keeps chomping on my garden and they may want to look into the "Witness Relocation Program" LOL!

I had used a spray at one point, but you have to reuse it after every rainfall....and lately I would have to have stock in the product to be able to afford to do that....I was wondering about the black pepper though..that's certainly cheap enough to buy.

OK I tried DayLillies and something else with skinny leaves and blue flowers that the gal in the Nursery told me the rabbits wouldn't go after. Well THEY DID!

Any recommendations on what I can plant that they won't touch?
