My icons and shortcuts are still there of course,..and if i double click the screen they will appear again,..this is with the aid of a small FREE program. http://www.stardock.com/products/fences/

Hi SusieQ07,
sorry to hear that!,..as its a very handy program to have,..its working for me on my W7,which i have on a Toshiba,..but if i remember correctly i uninstalled Microsoft Windows Defender from it,.. as it tends to try preventing you from installing non Microsoft programs,..i also have it on my WindowsXP,..i tend to have both running,..one in front of me the other behind me.

I have many non ms software installed on my PC's and np's with defender, I do not uninstall anything that came with my pc except anything norton that goes asap or any free trial software..plus it was kind of a pain to have to double click, in order to use icons, I will simply do without this one, I put my shortcuts, in folders, and so desktop is not that cluttered..
