Hi! I'm a grandmother of 13 1/3 grandkids, raising one. I live in rural NEMS. I am currently a Volunteer EMT/Firefighter. We want to have a garden this year because jobs just don't want to hire oldsters and company move off and leave you.

Welcome! Volunteering for the EMS/FD is a very admirable job, and I am sure that your community greatly appreciates you. Smart employers know that it is to their advantage to hire someone older because most of the time these workers already have strong desirable work habits established. This is a really fine group here at Gradenstew. We hope you will feel free to browse and contribute to the site.Blessings!

Hello there and welcome from Scotland in the UK.
I'm so glad you joined us and I am already intrigued to know that you are a volunteer for the EMS/FD. You must have some stories to tell and I hope you'll share some with us all.
There's nothing wrong with 'oldies' as we have far more experience to convey to our younger members and enjoy sharing our gardening experiences - whether they are good or bad. I look forward to getting to know you.

Oh, goody, another Southern gardener! Welcome! You'll love it here--gardeners from all over the world, great experienced hands who share willingly, and we love photos, especially of 13 1/3 grandchildren (maybe we have to wait to see the 1/3.)

Welcome from Missouri! I'm sure you'll enjoy being a part of GardenStew, it's a very friendly place to share and learn. Sounds like you'll be doing some veggie gardening; be sure to snap a few pictures when you get it going!

Hi from Chelmsford MA, welcome to the 'Stew'. Wow! 13 grandchildren and one on the way, fighting fires and answering emergencies, I hope you can find time for gardening. It definitely will be a relaxing diversion. Children too can enjoy gardening. Looking forward to hearing about your gardening and we all love pictures, welcome aboard.
Jerry

Hi SJ, glad to have you with us. Keep growing and showing. You are doing a wonderful thing in your volunteering, Hope you find a job soon, if thats your goal. Our employees (all 2 of them) are retired guys. GREAT work ethic and here on time when they are needed and not whining to go home early, "cuz they other things they want to do", like going to the skate park because it's nice out.

sgjones--I send you a big warm welcome from snowy, cold, and windy Wisconsin. This is a great site. WOW you sound like you have a very full and active life. That is so great you are an EMT. My hat goes off to anyone in those lines of work.
I to am looking forward to seeing pic's of your gardens and hearing more about all those Grandkids.
Hope your New Year has started off with unexpected blessing.
