Here's what's blooming at my place
sarcococca
witch hazel, 3 varieties
viburnum, several varieties
candytuft
heaths
vinca
winter jasmine
Most of these are quite fragrant and I can smell them clear down at the barn.
I am in the Puget Sound region, considered by many to be one the most fortunate places for a gardener to live!
Where do you live and what's blooming in your backyard?

I live in south Louisiana, about 70 miles from the Gulf of Mexico.
We only have Carolina Jasmine blooming now.

Oh crumbs, Muddy, everythings still dormant here, even the quince! Picked up a couple of heathers at Home Deep-o just to cheer myself up. I think the prairie is one zone behind you, & a higher elevation. I can see Capitol Peak from here & it still has snow in it.
But I have a heater cranked up in the room I'm drywalling and somehow ladybugs keep showing up!

Sigh....nothing but my greenhouse stuff. I do have a fair bit of bulbs beginning to stick their little green noses up out of the soil though.

I had my first hyacinth come out the other day.......helleborus, oh Lonicera fragrantissima, sends it's scent out, easy to divide as well.

As Sharon said only the Carolina Jasmine however we do have an over abundance of blooming idiots here they seem to grow especially well behind the steering wheels of cars

Not very much at the moment but all my bulbs are starting to grow quite tall now.
Winter Jasmine,
Polyanthus,
Snowdrops,
Hellebores,
cyclamen,
scillia,
winter pansies,
and 1 anemone.

Here, one hour from Memphis,Tn. about all that's blooming are violas and pansies. My witchhazel bloomed in Oct. this year. It has a very erratic blooming cycle. We have the promise of some daffodils soon.

Do you know the latin name for carolina jasmine by any chance ? It sounds lovely for a winter bloomer !

I do believe it's Gelsemium sempervirens

Richard, blooming idiots occur worldwide, I believe. I've seen them everywhere. But they do seem to be in abundance in some locations.

I have witch hazel blooming and carolina jasmine. My Louisiana iris is sending up bloom stalks. My day liies are sending up new growth. My snaps and petunias will bloom again soon. My garden is a pathetic sight these days.

blooming idiots behind wheels, yes all over, here in france they have their fair share of them especially coming up to mealtimes......

No really interesting location markers for me to use to describe where I am.....one hour south of the Texas/Oklahoma state line, roughly 4 hours west of Shreveport, La.....11 hours east of El Paso, Texas and roughly 6 hours north of the Gulf of Mexico.
There are lots of green patches in the beds, some perennials that never went completely dormant and some from evergreens, like the Snapdragons and Chrysanthemums. The Daffs, Snowdrops are coming up nicely.
My Carolina Jessamine, Gelsemium sempervirens, had buds before the long freezing spell we had now it doesn't look too good.
The Grape Hyacinth I took a picture of earlier this month is beginning to bloom more now, so it made it thru the freeze.
The Rosemary, Tuscan Blue has bloomed several times since Sept and still has blossoms on it from the most recent blooming.

We have a carpet of snow covering everything, but I have some African Violets blooming indoors. And there seems to be an abundance of blooming idiots around here these days too...
