I have 2 areas like this, that I'd like to make into something nice. The dirt that was put in around the rocks, was taken from the woods, and I didn't know that there would be so much tall grass. I guess that I'm looking for small bushes flowers and plants that will fit into the rock garden for area #2. We have a lotr of Deer here.

I think that would be so pretty with plants coming out of them.Maybe a shrub like Dwarf Buford Holly or native wild plants. The Holly might not be on their food list not sure.It is a wonderful shrub.

Are you looking for larger plants? Prennials that you don't have to replant every year. With the shade, I would use some bleeding heart. They were in the woods when we were kids. I guess things with fruit and berries would be out unless you wouldn't care if they ate the fruit. Primrose is a nice low ground cover among rocks. My father-in-law had those and vinca in his.
