You can buy plaster lining tape, not sure what its called and depends on where the cracks are.If you fill, rake it out a bit, so you have a decent gap to fill, rather than just a thin line, make sure its a flexible filler, that way if the ceiling moves, the filler will move wih it, flexible filler can be sanded and painted.Cant tell you much more than that, have a look on the web, maybe it will give you a better idea.
