Sitting here thinking about the quiet fall afternoon.

Category: Getting my garden started | Posted: Fri Oct 23, 2009 6:57 pm

So here we are, the kids and grand kids are returned to their home, and the house is so quiet. No pitter patter of little feet on the floor, or bursts of giggling laughter as they play. Just quiet.

The pier is out for the winter, It has turned cold, and the rains are being very persistent.

My leg is still disabled, and I can only take so many photos of the Birds and Squirrels at the bird feeder.
The local stores are displaying Christmas stuff, and it’s still a month before Thanksgiving. There seems to be way too many horror movies on TV, Halloween I presume. I spend way too much time in the recliner (because of my leg it’s the only place I can be comfortable for any length of time) watching TV. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking for sympathy here, because the kids were here, and we fully enjoyed the time with them. We had a wonderful summer down at the lake, I even got to wreck my knee down there. And, I am some what of a couch potato, if the truth be told, and that recliner is a great place to get an afternoon nap. No, no sympathy here, it’s actually quite nice to enjoy the peacefulness and quiet of this area. The sound of the wind rushing through the remaining leaves on the trees, and around the house, the pitter patter of the rain against the windows, Yawn, Yawn, ---- as a matter of fact, I think I’m going to head for the recliner right now.

I'm seeing Xmas stuff appearing in the shops now also. It's early arrival doesn't surprise me anymore. All it does is remind me to think up of present ideas for this year!

Nice to hear you're taking it easy Tom.

Tom I hope your knee gets well really fast. You will miss those boys lots.
I hate to see all the Christmas things so early.

Tom, sorry to hear that your knee is still in a bad way.
I wonder if there is a way you can turn those stunning photos you take into paintings? Do you like to paint? That might keep you busy during those cold months while you are traped inside. Those cute grandsons' of yours would make great subjects!

It's getting cool here, too though we haven't had frost. I think it's only been down to 45 degs. It has rained a lot. There is a lot to still be done. Next week is supposed to be sunny though and 70's. I don't miss the cold and snow of Wisconsin. Did you ever get your wood burning furnace?
Knees can take a long time to heal. I wore that knee brace for several months before I up and threw it away. I still have problems doing stairs and walking on rough terrain. I hope yours improves with a winter of resting in your recliner chair. I do enjoy your pictures even if you just take birds and animals and scenery. dooley
