Hanging In There

Category: Ramblings | Posted: Thu Feb 11, 2010 9:17 pm

When I looked outside this morning I felt sick. The snow fell and fell, like all day yesterday, but it was wet snow and turned into rain eventually. So now we've got lots of very wet snow outside, and unless all three weather channels are wrong we'll get freezing temps in a couple of days. That means ice. Lots of it too. *sigh*

Don't get me wrong, I love a proper winter with nice snow and steady cold. What I don't love is that it lasts forever. We're not used to that any more. We had these winters in the mid-'80-s, but since then our winters have been unstable to say the least.

And the amount of snow we've got is downright ridiculous too. Half of it would be more than enough. As it is, it's too deep to play in, too dry or too wet or just too crusty to do anything with and it's in the way.

I want to weed, sow, plant and harvest. I want to see colour outside. I want to mend fences and smell dirt, watch the worms wriggle and the slugs suffer.

So what to do? Well. I took a lesson from my younger friends. I have started playing FarmVille. *blushing* I get to weed, sow, harvest, put up fences and tend animals. It helps. I'm still hanging in here. :D Grannies need to play too, you know.

I am so glad to live where there is not so much snow, only rain. But, it is to soggy to garden and still too cool to plant things. I hope you don't get too much ice on your snow. Stay safe and warm inside. Play a game for me, too!

Farmville - oh nooooo! Seriously, enjoy it. I have so many friends that play that. I just don't like getting all their notifications because there are so many. I'm a puzzle type gamer myself. Have fun - it's gotta be spring soon.

I had great plans to dig up, weed, etc during what the Farmers Almanac predicted to be a warmer and dryer than normal winter. Boy was the Farmers Almanac wrong this year, they usually are for my part of the country but they were way off base this year.

Oh, well, spring will come eventually...at least that's what it says on the calendar.

Farmville, huh? Guess I could try that out.

Dooley, I've collected Valentines and just traded them in for the Eiffel Tower. I'll name it the Dooley Tower. :D

Newfpaws, just block the application and see if that will rid you of the problem. I try to not send invites to those not playing, though, since I myself don't like getting invitations to all sorts of weird games.

Toni, I'm glad you got some snow, since I know you like it. I only wish we could trade places for a couple of weeks in January or February. I think I would like Texas in winter.

It's good to hear you're hanging in there. I just hope that you don't have to hang in there for too long, cos you'll get long arms that way.

We got another layer of snow here...I am going to have to take measures about this prolongued winter..what I need is a balance.

It's raining, so that's a blessing. I think. :D And we're nearly halfway into February, which most certainly is a blessing. Now it's just a matter of waiting out the rest of the winter. Right? *back to FarvVille*

Don't blush. I am 74 and I have a Farm Town place and it gets all the attention a regular real farm would get. I love harvesting and making coins. I will now be neglecting it in favor of my real garden. I planted potatoes today. growingpains

Don't worry. I am a Farmville Farmer too. Imagine the shock I got when I found out there are more to taking care of things than planting and harvesting them! :o)

LOL I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my semi-madness for lack of growing things outside.
