Still waiting. The National Guard has been working 24/7 to keep our city....well...here. The Missouri River wraps around our city, so there's so much opportunity for a levee break. So far, so good. Levees north and south of us have breached, flooding the interstate and many homes and farms. Go here to see how bad things really are along the Missouri River.

This is the industrial levee on the wet side of the federal levee that protects my husband's employer. It's still holding, although seepage and sewer backups have become an issue.

So much water there, so little water here, too bad some of it can't be loaded into tankers and brought down here to farms and ranches.

It is too bad we can't just pipeline some of this water to drought areas. We're probably at or close to crest now, as long as the Corps don't increase the outflows of the dams upstream more. We're forecast to stay right where we're at for the entire month of July, who knows after that.

Alarming foto's, PL--We here live in a constant threat situation of water, as we libe under the sea level and are protected by a series of dikes.

It is normal for us to live this way, so we don't thik about it so much...but every so often when the tides are high, the wind is from the 'right' direction and the winds are terribly hard---we think about it.

Breeching is not something that often occurs here, as our engineers have learned through the centuries how to make them secure.
I wish that you guys weren't having this flooding, there are always some dangers that come along with it...like the sewerage back-up that you mentioned.

The link to more pics was dramatic. One could see the extent of the problem dramatically from the air.
