the story of a holiday
Category: nature's marvels | Posted: Mon Jun 01, 2009 6:43 am hello, i am very happy because we could get away from here for a few days. and we went to a far off place - Shillong - that is at the far east end of India. we had only heard of the place, we had studied in school that the place Chirrapunji in Meghalaya gets the highest rainfall in the world. Shillong is the capital of the state Meghalaya. it is about 4000mts above sea level. and the climate there is so pleasant, we felt we could stay forever. these are a few of the places we saw. so sad we couldn't stay for long. The Cathedral in the centre of the city. ![]()
Ward's lake - large lake with walk way all around the place. different types of trees and very serene atmosphere.
the second largest natural golf course
Lady Hyderi Park - all these in the city itself. the city has roads that are curving and climbing. ups and downs all over.
i will get back with some more pics next time. This blog entry has been viewed 113 times

It looks lovely, all of it. I'm so glad you had a good time on your holidays. It's certainly very lush and green.
I really like the shots of the lake and Lady Hyderi Park. It would be lovely to sit by the water and simply relax for a while.
Those are pretty pictures, Greenfairy. So glad you enjoyed your trip and saw faraway places.
What a beautiful place. You folks must have had a marvelous time there.
