Summer Garden Retrospective

Category: bethie's world | Posted: Fri Jan 09, 2009 3:37 pm

Well the gardening gods looked upon us with kindness this year. It was droughty here but several times when rain was critically needed we got it.
This is the right side of my back steps.

This is the left side of the back steps.

Clemmies do great here in the south. This is Jackmani.

Down the path to the shop.

Back at the veg. garden on an August afternoon. We lost several contorted willows from drought so we made arbors out of them.

Plant it and they will come and they did.

The beautiful came also.

Plant cupheas for hummingbirds and for their many flowers.

I love the colors on these.

There should always be Buddleia.

We enjoyed every piece of garden junk we have.

I grew a lot of foliage plants this year. Coleus varieties just keep getting better.

One of my 5 big hypertufa troughs.

Looking forward to this year's garden. Insert smile here.

Bethie, everything you make and grow are absolute beauties. Don't know how one (two) people can be so creative and such avid and lucky gardeners. All beautiful.

Just gorgeous. Will you plant something to grow on the willow arbors. Guess you really don't need to as they are great 'eye candy' just as they are.

Are all those Coleus in that one trough? It looks great too.

Oh Bethie everything looks so lush and wonderful. Those coleus are real beauties and the wildlife your garden attracts is marvelous in its variety.

I love your back steps planting, and I'd really like to wander down the path to your shop. Your coleus has me drooling, and I'd like to have a closer look at the frogs/toads/turtles and the flutterbys too. :)

Toni the coleus are in one trough. I don't plan to plant anything on the garden arch. The vase on the right is easily 8 feet high so the arch is very big. It's better to let wind blow right through it than have it covered with plants that would resist the wind. Wind is King.
