I came across this posting while trying to determine what I just pulled out of my plant bed. It looks like grass and my dad told me I needed to weed... so I did. But these things turned out to be like a bulb. Exactly like the description below:

I am very new here and absolutely new to gardening.
I brought home a potted plant from a yard sale.It is a very small plant that looked like grass. However the blades are not flat but like a half cut pipe with hollow middle and raised sides(sorry this is the best I can do).The blades are dark green in color.I repotted it as the pot it was in was cracking and I saw that it had bulbs underneath in which a lot of thin white roots are present - hundreds of roots actually.
Can you tell me what kind of plant is this - will it flower or should I just throw it away?

Did anyone ever determine what this is?

Jackie

Thank you!

I just looked it up on the web and that is exactly what they are. Well... I have a huge bag full of them in my garage! LOL!

I think I'll replant them elsewhere.

Thanks again for your help!

They are very gorgeous flowers.Especially if clustered together. This is my Garpe Hyacinths this year.
