I was given this, very fast growing, shrub from another garden enthusiast but don't know what it is. Any ideas? Reminds me a lot of honeysuckle but the flowers are very small and have no scent.

I've no idea, but it's certainly different! Does it spread a lot, or is it place bound?

It's place bound Droopy. I can't find it in any of my books. Sad

Neither can I, but I guess it might belong in the Lonicera-family after all. Might it be a Lonicera xylosteum? Here's a link to a photo. Have a look and see what you think.

Gosh Droopy you are GOOD. That's it without a doubt. Very Happy I had a feeling it was some type of honeysuckle but was puzzled that it had no scent. Thank you for IDing it for me. I knew you wouldn't let me down. Mr. Green

Edited to say that it appears to be a native of Sussex in England where it can be seen mainly in nature reserves. I can't find much info about it though, other than it's also called Fly or Dwarf Honeysuckle, but it seems happy enough where it is in the garden. It's formed a dense upright bush and doesn't seem inclined to climb which I'm happy with.

Gosh, Eileen, I'm not that good. Embarassed I was just too tired to do anything but surf about, and with a thought that it might be some kind of honeysuckle bush it really wasn't too difficult. It sounds like an interesting plant, and I'm glad we figured it out. Internet is a wonderful thing. Very Happy
