I have a lot of birds here with my pergola and they all seem to love eating the buds off of the trees..Does this mean my trees will not get as many leaves? My trees seem sparse this season. They have not fully opened yet but I was wondering why one tree has so many green sprouts and the other ones have less. Last summer was a hot one and now we have had a cool spring...suppose to get in the 30's again tonight...Spring, where are you??? But my question is about the buds falling off? thank you...Sherry

I noticed the same thing last night mowing. Last year, this was my last week at work. I had brought lilacs in all week long. This year my lilacs are just starting to bud.
Everything in my yard (except the grass) is really slow this year. Many trees and flowers have no signs of life yet.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that it's just slow and not winter kill.
