|
Hi! My husband and I just purchased our first home, but there is almost no landscaping to speak of in our yard. I have never had a yard so I need tons of advice.
I'd like to start by planting in front of the porch. The house faces to the north so the area gets no morning sun at all. However, I'm not sure shade plants will work since it does eventually get sunlight. And I like tropical-looking plants.
Any suggestions?
Anne

You can start with Canna Lily. They are very easy to grow and has beautiful flowers too. I started with that last year.

Hi GardenNewbie welcome to GardenStew.
Where do you live and how much sunlight does that spot get?

Canna's here in Texas tend to take over. You may not want them very close to your porch an I had them growing under my siding under my house .I now have them out from near anything like that but they grow great.
