The gemstone book sounds interesting also. I had the name of the garden column collection wrong.  It's actually titled "The Essential Earthman" and I was up way too late last night having a good read. The author, Henry Mitchel, has another book, "one man's garden" that sounds just as good.

I am reading Exploring Amerca's Backcountry .Its a National Geographic Society book .I bought it at the SonShine Center for $.50 .Its a good one .

I read quite a bit, especially in the winter when I can't be outdoors. Right now I am reading Charm School by Nelson Demille and have checked out his Night Fall to take on vacation with me. They are both action mysteries. I read for about 30 minutes everynight when I go to bed. If I don't, I don't sleep well.

right now im reading a book called "Amaganset" its about Long Island fishermen and a murder... its a bit slow but im reading it for my bookclub.. so im also reading the 5th Harry Potter...

I just finished "Twelve Sharp" by Janet Evanovich and just bought Angels Fall by Nora Roberts. I saw Month by Month gardening in Illinois at the used book store and almost bought it. Maybe I should get it next time I am there.

Friday, I stopped at the local thrift shop to see if I could find a book to send to grandma. She doesn't like "modern" books. I bought three or four books. I'm not sure grandma will get all of them. Probably only one. I bought The New Oxford Book of Irish Verse with translations by Thomas Kinsella. It says from the beginning to the fourteenth century. Haven't had much time to look at it yet. I bought 44 Irish Short Stories, an anthology of Irish short fiction from Yeats to Frank O'Connor. Haven't started it yet though I browsed it a bit. I bought "The Shepherd of the Hills" by Harold Bell Wright. That one was copywritten in 1907 and was a favorite of my mom's. I thought grandma might like it. This is a hard cover reprint. I bought a couple "romance" novels too, by Betty Neels. I read some by her a long while ago. Dooley

Where Peachtree meets Sweet Auburn. It takes a look at two prominant Atlanta families since the time of slavery to the 1990s. One family black and one white. Both families produced the most influential mayors of the modern South. Really interesting history lesson for someone who's never been to that part of the country.
