I loved the Harry Potter books! I gave mine away this year to a little girl at school though... I've heard the movie is GREAT!

My newest page turner is "Darling Judi, a celebration of Judi Dench", by John Miller. She is my favorite actress and absolutely enjoy watching everything she is in...especially love all the old shows of "As time goes by"...

I've got 3 books that I am "reading" but I've been so busy, I seem to read only for about 7 minutes at night and then fall asleep... but the books are:
My Life in France (Julia Child) Love it so far.
Julie and Julia (Julie Powell -- this is the book that the movie of the same name is based upon. The author cooks her way through Mastering the Art of French Cooking and writes about it. It's OK.)
And I decided to try out the Twilight series because so many of the kids I know have read them and love them. So I have Twilight (Stephanie Myer).

My oldest daughter is a teacher and since some of her students were avidly reading the Twilight series she decided to see what it was all about. One of her students gave her a helpful hint, she that it would take at least the first 100 pages before the book really caught her attention and after that she would really be enjoying it. Lisa said that was exactly what happened, she started to put the book down as boring a few times before but remembered what the girl had told her and sure enough by about page 100 she was really starting to get into it.

Twilight is still really popular throughout our library system. I enjoyed it, although it's definitely geared for teens. Right now I'm reading "Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World" by Vicki Myron and Bret Witter...cute story even though I'm more of a dog-person!

Ist, I must mention a book I read 2 years ago..."The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. It was such a wonderful book I read it from the beginning to end in 2 days. I had such a hard time putting it down. That is my highest recommendation for any of the books I've read in a long time!
About the Twlight series/books...
That's my husband's taste in books! He loves science fiction, and fantasy types. He went through all the Harry Potter Books (I'll watch the movies), and some of his fav authors are R. A. Salvatore, Terry Brooks, and he has every single book of J. R. R. Tolkien.

"My live in France" sounds wonderful! I must put that on my wish list for the next time my husband and I go to Barnes and Noble!

I am reading a book named'' 100 essential things you didn't know- John D.Barrow. Very interesting science book. Topics like :'' why does the other queue always move faster'' , ''How many guards does an art gallery need?'' ''some benefits of irrationality''
Good book to read on a train.

My daughter has read the Twilight books and said she got little sleep at night because she just could not stop reading them. She said an older book called "The Keeper of the Bees" is very good and I plan to read that.
I have been reading, "The Shack", and "Leota's Garden" by Francine Rivers. Both are what I call emotionally intense.

I've struggling through "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" by David Wroblewski. It's about a boy and his family from Wisconsin who raise dogs. It's been popular in the book club circles in our area, but it's not my cup of tea. Definitely a character-driven plot, with little action...everyone tells me I'll hate the ending (let's hope I make it that far!!!).
If anyone here has read it, I'd love to get your take on it.
