|
I just saw this little guy a few minutes ago and don't have a pic downloaded yet. But the body shape and beak and talons were a dead giveaway for a hawk of some sort. It was smallish (crow-sized) and had a solid pinkish-orange belly. It was on the ground and robins were dive-bombing it until it flew away. I couldn't get a clear look at its tail and don't know if it was banded or not. I'm very familiar with the red-tailed hawk and it definitely wasn't one of them. I'll post a pic when my hubby gets home later and downloads it.

Oh well, it's pretty far away and taken from a window, but here is the suspected Cooper's Hawk. In this photo, it could be the Loch Ness monster for all we can see. Let's see if I can post the photo.

I post pics quite often on another message board from ourbabynews.com. However, that format doesn't seem to work here. This site only tells how to post from photobucket. Can you help me please?

Yes! That is exactly what my visitor looked like. Mystery solved! If I can get some advice, I'll post that pic. Thanks for responding.

Okay, here's the lousy pic that I took of the suspected Cooper's Hawk. I wish it were better, but I need to invest in a better camera.

That photo isn't bad, I can see what it is....I took mine through the window glass. Most of my winter pictures are through the glass. I cannot stand outside waiting...it is just too cold. I still take some through the glass if someone makes a surprise visit. I just had the coopers Hawk visit over the weekend..grabbed my camera and took it through the glass again.

You should be able to find your hawk on the website below. Put your zipcode in and you get a listing of the local wildlife. You can also create save list with notes.
