Herbs in the Artic

Things are starting to really take off, even tho the temps are not that warm. Why you ask? lol. The midnight sun! We have sun 24 hours a day now and it really helps alot.

Chives

Seiersløk,,I don't know the english for this, but its an onion/garlic plant. I don't think its wild garlic, because the bulb of flowers that shoots out is like the chives,, but massive, and ohh so sweet in salads.

And my red currents, or Rips are finally budding. You can't see it but there is little berries starting to form. The other bushes are also starting, this one was i guess a bird dropping that just loved it new home.

I put this with the herb pics,, because its the only one pic,, but here is the rhubarb that I have been waiting on. The pic was taken a week ago so its much bigger now. The leaves on these plants by mid summer will be massively huge. At least half the size of a person.

Its a start but the Artic is finally waking up!

Heres a pic of the red current leaves. the black and while look just like it, only the berries have a little different taste is all.

Natural Cat,,,I'm probably going to dissappoint here, but those herbs i find over rated and poor excuses for medicine. If i want to sleep i drink Lemon Balm, it will relax you and make you drowsy. Falling asleep is no problem if you drink it.. also it is packed with vitamins, and some minerals that are excellent for the body,, St J, has close to nothing. I do like kamomile, and i grow it also, for relaxing and going to sleep,, but in all honesty, i have no problem sleeping because i wear myself out each day,,lol.

As far as aromatic scents goes,, i'm a natural kind of person... i like the naturalness of grass, or a fresh dug earth, these relax me, or invigorate me,, like sea salt smell from the fjord. Basil invigorates me. the smell that is. Pine trees make me think. I love the smell of flowers, but as far as growing them to make essences or oils,, very very rarely will i do that, because when winter comes, the smell of a storm gives me energy, and the smell of fresh snow, so pure makes me peaceful. theres to many other things to smell than commercially promoted scents that have been pushed. Sorry, if i didn't answer that as you wanted.

I do love the smell of roses, lilacs, jasmine, they are all great. but give me dirt anyday of the week and the smell is so pure.
