I decided to do something about this drainage ditch that doesn't serve its purpose now. Compliments of drains,,lol. It started out as an eyesore, just a big ditch next to the house. Well I went and got my well fed soil, lined it with strawberry wrap first, then selected stones from the beach, and filled with the dirt. I haven't put the ocean stones in it yet but i'm still not really done. I need one more wheelbarrel full of dirt. But i already have curly leaf lettuce started and radishes, chickweed to help nourish it all and keep moist, dill, fennel, anis, romaine lettuce, and red beet salad leaf. Most hasn't come up, some i just started in the house, and put out a week ago. Its been cold here and I am shocked how well they are doing really. But then this is the south side of the house and gets most of the sun all day long.
Here is my new project.

It's looking good, well done! Using stones is a great idea. It stores up heat during the day and gives it off when it chills down during the night. Your salad plants might have benefited from that.

That bes looks quite good. Youe selection of green goodies sounds appetizing to me, mind I am particularly fond of leafy greens things.
BTW...are those the stones that you roped your man and son into 'harvesting' a little while ago? 
You must take some update fotos of this plot in a few weeks.

Thanks all,,
Sjoerd those stones there are ones i got from the beach down on the fjord, i hauled all those up in a wheelbarrel a load at a time. The ocean stones I haven't put in yet, I want it to all come up first so i don't put one down on a plant. Plus I may use them somewhere else,, i'm not sure yet.

Thanks all, i finally got more dirt to go in the end of it,, and i was going to put my cukes there, but instead i just put in more dill,,, we use tons of it here! So it will basically become a herb garden next yr. with the anis, fennel, and dill.
I'm working on a new project on the side front of the barn, not the guest side, but the working side, that i will turn into a cuke bed, because the ramp to the barn will block the north wind, and also it gets the hottest part of the sun during the day,,, but i have to keep digging more dirt,,,,lol... good thing we have a lots of that around,,
