Thank you all so much for your heart felt thoughts. He was a good friend, and was involved in most every thing we did, causing us to continually be looking around for him. I thought I heard him during the night last night, I sat up in bed looking for him. Then I remembered. The picture I included here was taken just before we left for the vets, he turned to look at Mimi coming down the stairs. We sort of expected the bad news we got. Suspecting ahead didn't make it any easer.

For Tom and Deputy.

Sunlight streams through window pane
unto a spot on the floor....
then I remember,
it's where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.

Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
and muted echoes sound....
then I remember,
It's where your paws would joyously abound.

A voice is heard along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can't be yours....
your golden voice is still.

But I'll take that vacant spot of floor
and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.

I'll wrap these treasured memories
in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend
until we meet above.

Oh Tom I am so sorry for your loss "I too shed some tears". I know your pain as I too lost a dear beloved pet not too long ago, my cat Misty. You were brave to be able to write such a lovely tribute. I couldn't share, it was too painful. Our thoughts are with you. Deputy will be missed by all at the stew.

Eileen your poem is a great tribute for a wonderful friend. I think your words said it all.
