I thought you all might enjoy these picture of these local Bobcats that love the patch of grass in our back yard. When we first would see them we took lots of photos.......now that we have the photos we just watch them. Keep in mind these are taken through the glass window and with a Zoom!

These are some of the better shots.......

My, they're beautiful! I don't know anything about them. Are they very big? Can they pose a threat to young children or will they just run off and hide if they sense human presence?

No threat ... as soon as they see us they are gone. These ones are full grown so not too big! The only trouble per se is once in a while you can hear them walking on the roof of the house (but they are pretty quiet). Most houses here in this part of the state have flat roofs. And due to lots of wild coyotes, people with small dogs always need to keep a very close eye anytime outside. The coyotes are a problem! They are really prevalent around here too.

One day when Don and I walked together. In a short 1 hour walk out our front door we saw:
3 deer, a couple of coyotes, a heard of Javelinas, a rattle snake, several quail(they are always around though) wild rabbits and I think that is it!?!

Wow! Those are amazing! I really love that pic of the bobcat jumping. Around here, we get excited about the occasional possum or raccoon. I would love to look out my window and see something that incredible. How are they for keeping your rodents in check?

It sounds like you've got quite a wildlife around you! Very Happy I'd run like mad from the rattle snake and stare in awe at the coyotes. I've never seen any of those.

I had a cyote jump out of the tall grass about two feet in front of me when I was hiking around my dad's property. Scared the jeebies out of me! I hear they are becoming a serious threat to children in some areas.

Those are so pretty but here in Texas they get much larger and would be dangerous if you found a mama moving her kittens.

I'm not a lover of cats in my garden BUT I certainly wouldn't object if a gorgeous creature like that paid me a visit. What fantastic photographs!!!

Great pics CF. We have bobcats here in ME also, but mostly in the wooded areas. I'm in a semi rural area so I've never seen one around my house. I do have fox and coyotes, which I don't mind seeing from inside a house or car, but I would run as fast as my legs could carry me if I came face to face with one, which would probably be a bad thing cause I'm sure they could run faster than me. But they are beautiful creatures non the less. Thanks for sharing.

You lost me at "rattlesnake"!!! But those are fantastic shots! I did a sketch awhile back of a neighbor's pet bobcat (silly boy has two now!) and really got to appreciate just how beautiful they are. That airborne one is priceless!
