I've never had any luck with growing them. They like moist soil and humid environment. Our house gets so dry, and before I know it the plant's dead. My oldest daughter had hers for quite some time. She hunted flies (!) and fed the plant with them, showered it daily and kept it from direct sunlight.

Good things to know. I have been considering purchasing one also. I have never tried one before, but thought they were kind of finicky.

Thanks Eileen! I may have to go back to the store, purchase one of these, and give it a whirl!

The bathroom might be the best place for it! A nice steamy place.

Thanks Eileen,
I looked up the website. My son (17) just bought a Venus fly trap two weeks ago at the market and he has probably been over feeding it. Ha...he put an insect in each of the 6 or so leaves. Ugh...just for fun if you take a toothpick and gently touch both sides of the teeth it will close quite quickly.

I feed mine a crumb from a hamburger. It did not die but I would not do it too often.
