As you might already be able to tell I'm ecstatic about my newest garden purchase. I received my rain barrel in the mail today, and I couldn't be happier. Now all I need is some rain! Let me know what you guys think! Different looking isn't it?! More pictures to follow!

Whew, that's brilliant, I can see why you're jazzed! I'd gladly redirect some of this rain (and the chilly wind with it)

I just got one from Wal Mart but it is vynl but the nice thing is that it matches the house sideing exactly! Mine is a 25 gal and uses a diverter box to fill it.

I saw one just like that in my of my magazines and have looked at it. But I have no down spouts to attach it to. Let us know how it works out. It's nice looking which is what I liked and practical too. I like the addition of the flowers on top and the planter beside it. Nice job!

It's lovely! We don't have them here as we really don't need them most years.

WOW...quite difference than what I have seen. I would take one like that..it isn't an eyesore like some of them I have seen.. was that your own idea to put a plant on the top? It is so great...thank you for sharing.

Thanks! I will let you know how it stands up once the rain arrives! The top portion of the barrel is called a "crown planter" so I can't take too much credit for using it as such. Definitely a different looking idea and concept, which is what made me fall in love with it as well! I'll post back soon!

Finall got some rain to fill my barrel. We got 1/4 inch of rain and that yeilded 26 gal. of water collected. The excess automatically runs off through the diverter and out the downspout. It has a cover, so don't have to worry about mosquitos either.
