I hope this is the right forum for this. For all the iris lovers out there I have found a wonderful grower in the Willamette Valley. I was searching for iris on ebay one day and came across "Turtle Jim". He is a grower that lives 4 or 5 hours north of me. He might be close to Prim & Lexie. This man has some AMAZING flowers. I've won one so far in the auction and am bidding on a few more. I've emailed him a couple times and he seems like a very nice person. Hey, he's a gardener he can't be all bad  He also helped identify a rot problem I'm having with one of my plants that I purchased from a commercial grower last year  I told him all about "The Stew" and invited him to check us out. So, if anyone is interested in iris check out his gardens. I think you'll be impressed!

Thanks. I was just thinking about looking on eBay for some iris that I can't find around here. Will have to check out his auctions.

I haven't the foggiest I will ask him! I sure hope so! He is only a hobby gardener, not commercial so that might change things

Well, I got an email from Jim this morning and found out that he does not have a web site or send plants out of the country  He works a full time job in addition to his gardening so his spare time is limited, we all know how that is.
I still say if you are interested in iris check him out on ebay. I won a beautiful dark purple and white that reblooms and have bids in on a red, white & blue iris along with an awesome orange & white one (please don't bid against me on those two! )

Blast I had a feeling he wouldn't ship them to Scotland. Oh well I'm sure I'll find a source for iris somewhere.

Purpura a licence is needed so that no diseases or bugs will be sent from country to country with the plants being shipped. You can only ship abroad if your produce has been inspected and passed as disease and pest free. Many people don't have these licences as they are expensive especially if you don't have a substantial and thriving business. I would love to send seeds/plants to members in America and other non-european countries but am only allowed to send them to europe without a licence.

Like Eileen said, the rules are so strict it almost takes the fun out of purchasing plants from abroad. Some species must be delivered with a certificate of origin as well. I think our rules are even stricter than the EU rules.
