I purchased a new peony last year, and lost the tag. Anyone know what the name of this one is?

It looks very similar to 'Gay Paree' Pianolady. It's stunningly beautiful. Stew Face 1

It also vaguely resembles "Bowl of Beauty"....but I'd better keep quiet, cos I do not know my Peonys at all.--I just love to look at them, that's all.

That is just gorgeous Pianolady! I looked up "Gay Paree" in my book and it said:
"Herbaceous perennial with light green foliage. In midseason bears large, Japanese type, deep cerise-pink flowers with shell pink centers."
"Bowl of Beauty" says:
"In midseason, produces very large, Japanese-type, carmine red, pink tinted flowers with dense, creamy white centers consisting of many crowded narrow petaloids."

Bowl of Beauty, I think that's it! It sure rings a bell. I'll no for sure after it blooms more, but I recall buying that one. Thanks!

It's a lovely peony, no matter what it's called. Very Happy Mother has two that looks very similar, and I can't tell them apart at all. One is Bowl of Beauty, the other one had a fancy, Japanese name. They both look like yours.

As I said, I do not know peonys at all, but the "Bowl of Beauty" was offered for sale in the supermarket that I frequent some weeks ago, and that's why I recall the name. The foto on the plant lable really struck me as being tremendously beautiful. If I grew peonys, I'd have that one for sure. It was stunning to see...but they always do that on plant lables, don't they. Wink
--you know--put a picture of the plant in it's most beautiful form (sometimes enhanced).
Well, if that peony was only half as beautiful as it's ID picture, it's still be a show-stopper!

BTW, my fellow Stewbies...did you happen to notice EJ's posting: http://www.gardenstew.com/about10598-15.html
Just scroll down to the 4th one from the top of her second posting...right after the one with the little boar sculpture looking out from under the foilege.

Whatever peony it is I think it's a real beauty. Stew Face 1
