My husband left the birdseed sitting out on the deck after filling the feeders. A raccoon chewed a hole in the bag and the next morning, this little guy reaped the benefits until I picked it all up.
This dragonfly landed on our neighbor boy and seemed to want to hang out with him.

That is a great picture of the dragonfly with the boy! He must have a great spirit for the dragonfly to land on him!

Oh how neat the dragonfly landing on a finger.Thats really surprising.I love racoons but they will get into anything.They are truly little bandits.

Gardenmama, I've heard that about dragonflies landing on those with good spirits/old souls before. This little neighbor boy seems to have a natural way with animals and spends his time catching frogs, toads, lizards, and turtles and making them really elaborate homes in his yard. We just found a large painted turtle in our yard this morning and I immediately called the neighbors to let this little boy come and get it for his terrariums. He's older than my sons (he's 9 and my boys are 4 and 2) and loves to teach them all about his pets.

Your visitors are adorable! I like those little chipmunks. We haven't got them here. I've never been fortunate enough to have a dragonfly land on me. They are beautiful insects.

Those are great pictures!
I once saved a dragonfly from the stream. He crawled up my pantleg to get out. I never had one land on me by itself though! Very cool!

That chipmunk is making sure his cheek pouches are well and truely stuffed isn't he? He must have known you were going to clear the birdseed away!!! LOL
Fantastic photograph of the dragonfly and your neighbours son. Another David Attenborough in the making there I think.

Great pictures. That little chipmunk hit the jackpot there for a while didn't he?! I love dragonflies but have never been able to a good picture of one.

Wonderful photos. Lucky chipmunk! at least he got some gourmet for a day or so,,lol.
The dragonfly pic is awesome. I've had many land on me just sitting down at the marsh. Even my dog while laying on one of the huge boulders sunning himself had one land right on his back. I had a few pics of them but they crashed when the other computer crashed,,, so their all gone now. Very special pic.

Try to keep all bird food inside at night. Even the stuff in the feeders. Leaving feed out at night draws in raccoons and rats. Eventually those critters will decide to break into your attic to den up because it is a lot closer than the tree cavity they were living in a hundred yards away from your feeders. I see it all the time in my business. 90% of my customers leave pet food out at night or bird feeders. Once inside your attic they can cause thousands in damage.
I recommend to customers to plant native bushes that fruit as an alternative to feed. A constant year round feed source can artificially increase the population of urban wildlife beyond the amount of nesting areas available. This will also drive them into unwanted places (ie...your attic).
