|
Hi,
I photographed these butterflies at our local butterfly park today. They could be from anywhere around the world I suppose. Sadly, we left our identification guide at the park and so now I'm unable to catalogue my photos accurately.
Can anyone help put a name to any of them?

OH WOW!!! We don't get any of these species here in Britain so I can't ID them for you but they are gorgeous. I do know that the third one down is a clearwing butterfly but that's it I'm afraid. Perhaps Toni wil drop by later and ID them all for you.

I've managed to get five of them identified. The last one (the 6th image down) remains elusive however.
For the record, the other five were identified as follows:
1. Plain Tiger - Danaus chrysippus
2. White Tree Nymph - Idea leuconoe
3. Glasswing - Greta oto
4. Clipper ( blue form ) - Pathenos sylvia lilacinus
5. Lacewings ( Malay or Batak ) - Cethosia sp.
Anyone knows number 6, it will be greatly appreciated.

I found a link to a butterfly resembling the last one:
| Quote: | | A common butterfly found in South Asia: The Common Crow (Euploea core) is a glossy black butterfly with brown underside with white marks along the outer margins of the wing. |
Ursi's blog.

Thanks for the "Common Crow" ID. I'd say that is certainly the one. That's the good news.
The bad news is that I've nearly finished processing the other photos, which means more of them to ID.
Thanks to everyone for the help.

What do you mean "bad news"? I like puzzles. Guess I'm a big child in that respect.
