I just moved into a townhouse that has a fuse box located in the living room right next to a door that goes out onto a deck. I got a screen room divider to hide the fuse box. The screen has three panels. However, for my purposes it seems to work better to fold back one of he panels and allow the TWO panels to hug the corner of the wall. Is this ok or is there some unwritten rule that there must be a minimum of three panels on these screens?

There are no hard and fast rules about how many panels a screen should have. It's entirely up to you what you want to have in your home. Stew Face 2

Like Eileen, I don't think there is any rule about three screens as opposed to two.

I think they usually come in a minimum of three panels so they will stand alone more securely by placing them at slight angles to each other.

Also, in interior decorating as well as in garden planning, using odd numbers of items or plants is aesthetically more pleasing to look at than even numbers.
