egoreise gave me an idea. My mother painted in oils when I was young. She passed away in 2001. My dad has most of her work. I have one I like particularly well. Check it out. I think it was painted in 1967.

Yes, talented indeed. What a beautiful paining. How wonderful that you have it. I know how dear it is to you. My dad used to carve and he's been gone 15 years now but his carvings mean the world to me. Thanks for sharing.

And I'm a pack-rat too. I've saved everything - I mean every single piece of art created by my 5 year-old daughter so far! My office at work is covered with water colors, crayon & construction paper art!
My pack-rattiness paid of, sort of, because I save cards & letters I receive too. In 1995, my best friend was killed in an Air Force jet crash & I was so happy I had all sorts of post cards & letters from him.

Lovely painting, I'm glad you've got it. So sorry about your friend. It's so sad when people are taken away at a fairly young age.
The pack-rat mentality is usually bothering me a lot, but now and then it turns out to be a good thing. I only wish I knew beforehand when that would be.

What a beautiful painting - so calming to look at. I can almost picture myself strolling along beside the river.

She used light & shadows beautifully, looks like early-morning with the sun sending rays across the grounds, nice shadowy areas, I can see why you are so drawn to it. Is it somewhere local for you, or is it from a beautiful imagination?

Honestly, I think this is a field she saw in France when we lived in Europe in the 1960's. My dad was a doctor in the U.S. Army & he was stationed in Germany. My folks traveled all over Western Europe back then. For some reason, I think this is some country spot in France. But I could be wrong.
