Here's 2 things you can use these for just to keep them out of the landfill.

1- You can fill them with seed starting soil plant your seed in it and when it's time to plant just put the whole thing in the ground. The cardboard roll will rot away rather quickly.

2- You can put the cardboard roll around the base of your tomato plants and it will keep the dreaded cutworm from doing any damage (if you have cutworms there that is)?

It always amazes me what we gardeners find of use to us. I use cardboard toilet roll tubes too for planting seeds in.

Great idea! We usually put them in the paper recycling bin, but stem protection sounds like a smart idea. We've got slugs that love to kill plants by chewing through the stems.

kuntrygal, what's with the new gallon milk containers? I'd love to see one.
