Can anyone can tell me why my plants are growing green and bushy with VERY small and VERY FEW tomatos.I also had a problem with one plants leaves turning yellow but read on this site that other members agree that in that case the plant is getting too much water.

I wish I had some advice for you but I need tomato help too  Hopefully Sjoerd or Gardenmamma will come to our rescue. They know their tom's! I'm worried about pruning my plants. I'm thinking they need pruned because they are gorgeous and bushy but I haven't got a single tomato yet  Common sense tells me that if I take off some of the growth the plants will put their energy into the fruit. But...what do I prune without doing damage?

Bushy plants are probably the reason that you are not getting big fruit and maybe no fruit at all.
I would prune off the unnecessary leaves. start at the bottom and look for suckers and stems that don't have flowers on. And give it a hair cut.
Next make sure that you are fertilizing every week. they are hungry things.
Here is a pic of a plant that has been pruned.
Later in the summer I will get more drastic with the hair cut as well.
If you don't have any fruit but you have flowers, I have taken the advice and start shaking the plants every morning to loosen up the pollen. Also make sure they are eating regularly. Some toms take longer to get fruit. I have fruit on this one and a few others but slowly the flowers are showing up everywhere.

I've recently read a site on tomatoes that says, tomatoes should be progressively defoliated as they grow as they only need 3 leaves to sustain the plant!! Mine only have the very top leaves and blossoms. All but one have set fruit.

By the end of the summer my plants have only the leaves at the very top as well....your fruit will get bigger and ripen faster.
