So many beautiful pictures have been posted of daylilies, and now I want to try them. I did order two different lilies, received them, planted and only green stems!
Here's the stupid question. Where does everyone buy their lilies?  There are no nurseries where I live. Only Lowes and HD. I shop these two places over and over and have never seen a daylily. Do you order them from the 'daylily store' (ha-ha), through a catalog or what. I need to be pointed in the right direction

I sometimes have seen daylillies at a K-mart or Wal-mart, back in the garden center.

Some of mine I got at either Lowes or HD, you have to look in the fall or really early spring but they won't usually be outside with the other flowers and plants. HD has a large section inside the store near the garden center with all sorts of bulbs then.
Check out Springhillnursery.com
MichiganBulb.com and Brecks.com they all have lilies and other plants.

Most of mine I dug up at my moms, they transplant very well. Nothing seems to kill them but the others I got at Home Depot and Lowes. Check earlier in the spring you should find many varieties.

Well since I looked at HD and Lowe's, I was obviously looking in the wrong place!! I will check out the inside area and see what I find. Thanks all!

I don't know how your growing season is but they may not restock them this late into summer...If you can't find them now look in the early spring.

I've bought several off of EBAY and the lily auction.
I love them too. You just can't beat them. They are easy, pest resistant, spread so you can share and you can find them pretty cheap

I buy a number of plants from the online garden centers. I have never had problems at all.
To begin, I'd try for one in the same state as where you live...then branch out from there.
I have no doubt that you will find your daylilies this way.

Online nurseries stock the really different varieties. I too look for the ones in my state. Most local nurseries are wiped out by late spring.

Yea, I would definitely wait until fall or early spring. They are gorgeous, and I for sure want to try the very unusual ones. Like someone said, they are pest resistant, and just keep on like 'the energizer bunny'. After starting my container garden this year with a little bit of this and that, then seeing all the daylilies, I know that I want to go that route.

Deanna, that's what I am afraid of after seeing all the beautiful colors, ruffles, etc.
Thanks, Toni...I found The Lily Farm. It is about an hours drive from me. During peak season, they have tours of their farm. Hope to catch it next year. But I will check these other sites out.
