With my wife out of town, my office demanding I burn off some leave time before the Fall, I decided to get some stuff done at the house & in the yard. I toook my daughter to daycare 4 of the 5 work days this week and I got busy. I am not skilled in carpentry, but I love working with wood! I had had an idea about an elevated playhouse with a slide for my daughter for a while. Recently, I imagined what it would look like & drew it out, then figured what lumber was needed & went shopping. I sank 4x4 posts into the ground & made a sandbox. Then I bolted 2x6's 4 feet up on the posts & laid a playwood platform up there. Then more 2x6's for railings. Then balusters on the sides to keep the kids from rolling/falling off the platform. I wanted to hinge the slide, because my daughter mentioned wanting to land in a pool. I did not want a pool to always be at the end of the slide, so I needed it hinged, so I could put a pool under it. My brother-in-law, who is quite skilled in carpentry, came up with the method we used to hinge the slide to the platform. We bolted the roof supports today & screwed the roof on too. It is not quite finished, but the heavy stuff is done. Have a look:

Even looks sturdy enough for the adult children to play in/on with the little princess.

It is indeed strong, as my brother-in-law and I were both up there working, so it was holding between 400 - 500 pounds! Now comes putting the shingles on the roof. I really, really hate shingling a roof!
