I was shopping around ebay last night . I was looking for clumping bamboo so I dont haveto worry about it taking off across my yard. WOW! Theres alot of different kinds out there!
The black is just beautiful!
The yellow looks great.
the red really stands out.
Theres ALL KInds!
My hubby laughs at me cuz I tend to "collect". Like my elephant ears. I am very close to having a full collection! JUST LOVE THEM!
I am collecting mint too. But not for herbs. Its a great plant to put around stepping stone for the scent of the leaves as you brush by.
And of course, my roses. >sigh< I have to buy four new ones to replace the ones that died. BUT thats neither here nor there!
After seeing the bamboo, I think..... I have a new plant to collect!
What plants do you collect?
And before anyone ask, collecting = more than two.

Pinkiered,
I had the most fun this winter with growing ivy in a sunny south window (West Texas, zone 7b). It all started happening for me last summer. I had pinched off a piece of ivy in order to make the mother plant bush out, but could not bring myself to throw it away, so I pushed it down into a small pot of soil and sat it in the middle of an outside shaded table. Imagine my surprise when the thing started growing, and growing, and growing!
I brought it into the house for the winter and kept pinching off pieces of ivy all season long. Now I have several pots of ivy growing in that south window. I'm sure I'll have to move them away from that window during the hot summer.
I feel the same way as you do about roses. LOVE roses, but we don't have any now. Our last type was the Don Juan climbers. They smell so good and are very pretty all summer long.

Where would I begin? Sedums, sempervivums, saxifrages, grasses, hemerocallis, scilla, Sorbus, Magnolias, er I could keep going.

Whomever had this property before me must have collected lilies - There are all kinds in the ground here - very pretty. I am happily collecting different varieties of columbine. I love how they will cross-breed too, and new colors will come up after a while! I love funky ornamental grasses too, especially curly ones or ones with metallic colors.

I think most of the Gardenstewers have many, many plants. We grow them and if we have more than one is it called a collection. You should see my greenhouse. Where will I put all those plants? dooley

I'm putting in anything that is FREE. I've just moved, need everything. I could count the existing plants here on one hand!! I left a 2 acre garden...
I had a great collection of perinneal geraniums that I'll be getting starts off of......I enjoy these, no work, no care, make more plants all the time. (my criteria for a good plant!!!)
I've got a small section with native plants, which I've just started. I volunteer with the group in our county at the native plant sale, so I'm learning more about these......makes an easy garden to maintain. Looks good with my tall evergreens.
The rest of the place is almost all full sun. New to me type of gardening. Taking any starts from friends & family, I'm determined not to put any money into this yard. I don't like it well enough! (and I'm allergic to spending money anyway) So far, so good. Thankfully, gardeners are generous & love to share.

Depending on where your evergreens are, it could be hard to grow anything in spite of that sunshine - my Oregon property here is filled with gorgeous big doug firs, but they do make a lot of the property 'ungrowable' but for a small number of plants who can eke out an existance under them. Unfortunately, the weeds don't seem to mind, sheesh...
Collecting carnivorous plants - how fun! And herbs - ooo, yeah... *covets plants*
