I don't think that they are home yet. I fully expect Droopy to check-in here when she does get back...maybe not a bunch of posts, but certainally to say hello.

Awww, you guys! My eyes are welling with tears because of your worry and concern.

We arrived on Rodos the day after the earth quake and never had even a whisper about evacuation because of the fire from our travelling agent. The wind gave the fire fighters a hard time for a couple of days. The film footage looks very dramatic, and the destruction is horrible. Lots of forest and olive groves were destroyed. It will take half a century for it to grow back. The hotel reception updated us every morning, so we felt well taken care of.

Welcome back and thank goodness you were well away from all the natural disaster stuff.

I think that everyone was honestly a bit concerned for you because we had no idea exactly where you were in relation to where the fire was or how much it was spreading. We had one day of coverage here in Nederland, and that was it.
The press always like to sensationalize such things and personally I take the reporting all with a pinch of salt usually because I know their propenisty to exaggerate and slant----having said that, it is a whole different story when it is a valued pal that is in a possible danger zone. Shocked

How good it was to see your lovely blue flower again today on the Stew! Very Happy

Thanks both. Our family in Norway kept texting us to ask about the latest developments, but we never knew as much as they did. Laughing It's what we call cucumber time in the news department so all small mishaps are blown out of proportion in summer. The fire was a big one, and difficult to manage too, but fortunately the Greek got help from their neighbours.

They had 164 fires all over Greece at one point. We felt safe because of the sparse vegetation and all the villages that lay between Rodos town and that fire. Also, the travel agents are quick to take action if it looks like their customers are going to be in trouble. Greece didn't get proper winter rain last winter, so everything is drier than normal down there.

It's been dry here but it seems like every time we turn around it's thundering. There was a fire near us already this summer so we know about fires in this dry climate. I'm glad you were able to enjoy your vacation without evacuating. I'm going off of here. That thunder was just too close. Get some rest now. dooley

We missed you so much Droopy and couldn't wait for you to get back and tell us you were safe and sound. We couldn't bear to think that a member of our family might be in danger or injured. Trees can be relaced but YOU definately can't be.

Love and hugs.

Welcome back Droopy. I was off line myself for a month or so, so I had missed your posts of going on holiday. I'm glad your safe and your holiday was good. Smile
