Hi all, We're getting some yellowing leaves on our tomato plants and are a bit stumped. Perhaps someone here will recognize the cause. The cherry tomatoes seem most affected, while the regular plants don't seem to be having trouble at all. From the tomato problem solvers that I've looked at, the picture it seems to most resemble is the one corresponding to salt damage, but I find that very hard to believe. Cherry tomatoes growing in the same soil last year had no problems. We had some plants with early blight this year, but this yellowing doesn't seem to be correlated with that. The stems and veins don't seem discolored. At first we thought that the plants were getting too much water, but a couple of weeks of limiting water doesn't seem to have stopped the progression. Here's a picture of a leaf in the early stages of being affected: And here's the eventual progression: Any suggestions as to what the problem is? David
That looks very much like Magnesium deficiency---especially the second foto. You could try applying a 2% solution of MgSO4 (Magnesium Sulfate [also known as Epsom Salts, I believe])--spraying the leaves of the plant once a week for two or three weeks.
Yeppers looks that way to me too here is a pic that might help scrool down to no.# 255 http://www.hbci.com/~wenonah/min-def/tomatoes.htm
