We saw the mother sitting on the deck rail a few weeks ago, but then she never came out again. It was dark and the pictures weren't very good.

Yesterday, she showed up, she's a Mamma, of a few thousand. The pot the mother is on is a 12 incher.

Now that's what I call a great way to rid yourself of all the 'nasties' that visit your garden. I don't like handling spiders but I do love having them in the garden. Stew Face 1

Jeffrey...I used to love the daddy long legs at the last house...I considered them good spiders. but the ones that are making a statement on my house...I would like to get rid of...you clean the house and they leave their mark the next day...I think it is because this is a newly developed area and we have disturbed everything. 150 new houses will be going up soon on the other end...I think we are at about 12 right now...I noticed alot of webs from my planters to the house so I keep knocking them down because of the birds.

I'm with Eileen, I don't like touching or even having them in the house but they are welcome to my garden any time. I've got the creepies now too!

One summer my mom was cooking dinner and turned on the ceiling fan as it was getting warm in the kitchen. From the top of the cupboard came these long spider web strings holding thousands of those baby spiders. You couldn't get away from them. Needless to say it ruined the dinner. Everyone was trying to clear them out and getting covered with baby spiders. The vacuum cleaner worked overtime that evening. It was so funny. dooley

Ours is just the opposite, an old neighborhood with mature woods.

This is by far, the biggest spider i've ever seen around here, mamma crawled away later that night and left the babies to fend for themselves.

Wendy won't even let me kill little spiders, she likes them. Guess those things aught to eat a lot of bugs next year.
