Ok I need some help here. I got one of those "raise your own butterflies kit" thing. My butterflies are hatched and everything but now I think they are breeding. Is it true that when they breed the connect their abdomens? Well thats what they are doing and they didnt just do it once they are doing it over and over every day! And I need to let them go soon but I cant really do that when they are connected. Any help please? Thanks

Butterflies mate by connecting end to end and some will go on a short flight connected together. I don't know that they do it over and over, usually once does the job since they don't mate for pleasure, but the connection can last for an hour or sometimes overnight.

If it is time to release them according to the instructions that came with you kit, then follow their instructions. The butterflies will know what to do.

Ok thanks so much. Luckily they seperated today, none where 'doing it' and so I let them go. BUT I had some scrunched up paper towels in there for their food and I noticed some green little things all over it. I looked online to see if they are eggs because they were breeding. Well imediately I noticed they were eggs. So I took the towel and put it under some big bushes in this canal thing behind our house where I let my butterflies go. I know its "littering" but I want to give them a chance and with school and all there is no way I can deal with 1000 catapillers or so.
